Objective 1.2

The article focuses on the negatives of veiling or wearing a hijab. It interviews women who chose to unveil and to leave the Islamic religion rather than face the oppression that is a part of veiling.

The women believe that wearing the hijab is a sexist practice that encourages the oppression of women starting at a young age. "They said that the hijab was not only a headscarf but a lifestyle" one of the women says about having to quite karate and soccer once she started wearing a veil. "The hijab hyper-sexualized my body" said another woman about having to hide her body even though she was too young to be developed in a sexual way. Another woman says that the hijab "actively drowns out experiences".
